In this part 2 (Basic Configuration – Prestashop 1.6 Tutorials) by Nemo’s Post Scriptum, he’ll talk about the basic configuration in Prestashop 1.6 from frontend to backend.

Disable Demo Mode & Live Configurator

After you have installed Prestashop 1.6, one of the first step is to disable the demo mode from the backend to get rid of all the fake transactions. The Live Configurator allows you to have control over the basic visual look of your store, such as fonts and colors.

Uploading Logo

In the Preferences > Themes, you can upload different versions of the logos. Purpose of this is that if you have a white logo for the store front and you want to add that same logo in the email, it will look invisible. So if you want to add black version of the logo when you send emails, Prestashop gives you the option to do that.

Change Columns – New in Version 1.6

Brand new in Prestashop 1.6, you can simply enable or disable columns for each page. After turn on the column, you have to link modules in order for them to be shown in the frontend.

Live Edit

Live Edit in Prestashop allows you to move certain blocks from the frontend. For example, if you want to move the modules in the left column from top to bottom, you can do that be dragging the module and save. Now, some modules can only stay in the left column, so if you try to move them to a prohibited area, you’ll see the red box show up.
